Staples Automation and Robotics Engineers are the primary drivers of innovation within the Staples North American delivery network. Automation and Robotics Engineers have a wide variety of skills including software engineering, systems design, problem solving, communication and leadership skills. They lead diverse teams, with members from many different departments, so they must be able to gain the trust of others and influence teams to make decisions in the best interest of the company.
Working with multiple cross functional engineers to bring a concept from concept to reality.
Building robust and scalable software applications to support Staples Robotics and Automation.
Work closely with cross functional teams to integrate conveyer controls solutions.
Ability to provide technical expertise in software design, construction, and deployment.
Perform on-site commissioning support
BS or MS in: Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics.
5-7 years of experience in related field.
Experience designing and deploying a high quality, scalable enterprise software solution.
Familiarity with the following programming languages: C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, Java and Python.
Database skills: PostgreSQL, Teradata, MS SQL Server, IBM DB2
Analytic tools: Tableau, Qlikview, Micro strategy
Other: Hadoop, shell scripting, process simulation software, emulate3D
Understanding of computer networking concepts and architecture is a plus
Warehouse operations management experience or experience with warehouse management and/or execution systems is a plus
Experience with or training in statistical analysis is a plus
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in software and hardware.
Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, detail oriented and the ability to conduct meetings and presentations with associates from all levels of management.
Will work with Automation and Robotics team to recommend and execute improvement opportunities.
Will be leading projects and will be providing direction and leadership to associates on these teams
Will be a member of the team helping to optimize systems and processes.
Candidate must be highly independent and resourceful; often able to find the solutions to problems with little or no support
Job will require 25-50% travel
